A new report, The Price of Piracy reveals the estimated economic impact of illegal streaming in the UK.
£270M A YEAR ESTIMATED LOSS TO CONSUMER FRAUD AND IDENTITY THEFT FROM ILLEGAL STREAMING
The findings are based on a nationally representative poll of 2,501 UK consumers conducted by J.L. Partners in February 2026, alongside economic modelling by WPI Economics.
90% OF ILLEGAL STREAMING SITES ARE CLASSIFIED AS RISKY
Cyber security experts Opentext found that of 50 illegal streaming sites analysed, 90% were classified as risky.
£1,680 IS THE AVERAGE AMOUNT STOLEN THROUGH ILLEGAL STREAMING
The average amount stolen through illegal streaming is £1,680. One in ten have lost more than £5,000.
