Birmingham Man Sentenced to Prison for Operating Illegal Sports Streaming Service

Gary McNally, a Birmingham man, was sentenced to nearly three years in prison for running a large-scale illegal streaming operation between 2017 and 2021. His illegal service provided access to Premier League football and other sporting events, reaching up to 2,000 users.

The illegal streams totaled over 80,000 hours of content, with McNally reportedly earning up to £60,000, although his defense argued it was closer to £40,000.

The court noted McNally's role placed him at the top of the piracy hierarchy, which is a rare and serious offense.

McNally's case is part of a broader crackdown on illegal streaming. The case highlights the increasing severity of legal actions against illegal streamers, as authorities target those involved in both distributing and creating pirated content.
