UK MAN WHO FLED TO CYPRUS JAILED IN UK FOR ILLEGAL TV OPERATION

A 40-year-old man in Greater Manchester has been sentenced to four years and six months in prison as a result of advertising and selling specifically configured television set-top boxes. The devices enabled unlawful access to paid subscription services from BT, Virgin Media, Sky and thousands of pay per-view content and on-demand films.
Michael Hornung, was previously sentenced in June 2022 but he had fled the UK to avoid imprisonment. This month Hornung was arrested in Cyprus by Cypriot authorities following a collaborative effort between FACT and the National Crime Agency (NCA) and he has received a 12-week jail sentence for violating the Bail Act, bringing his total sentence to four years and nine months.
